I originally wrote a review about my Gen 1 Weber SmokeFire grill back in February 2020 just before our country was shut down, due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. This first attempt at a digital smoker was not perfect but Weber continued to improve the product (with some pellet hopper hardware improvements) and continued software improvements. I am still a HUGE fan and love cooking on this thing!
Weber has since developed a 2nd Generation of both the EX4 and EX6 with slight tweaks (as well as the recently announced SmokeFire Stealth version coming soon pictured above) but as I have discussed before, I really love hardware technology that continues to get better over time with software improvements…for free! Weber is hitting the mark with this approach.

Weber has delivered on that promise again! I just received the following email about the new firmware (aka software) improvements to my 2+ year old grill.
Reach and maintain temps better! Improved grill performance! And better pellet sensor notifications! Yes sir I will take all three for free 🙂

I am still a huge fan of the Weber SmokeFire and glad they got into the Smart Pellet Grill space. Weber is committed to this product line and the acquisition of June for the software smarts was a wise move towards this commitment. If you are considering upgrading your pellet grill or stepping into this space, I highly recommend Weber SmokeFire line of grills for any slow and low, reverse sear, or burger recipe!
